MANILA, Philippines — Rizal St. Gerrard Charity Foundation Inc. booked its fourth straight win in the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA), sweeping ICC Negros, 25-17, 25-14, 28-26, on Thursday night at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Rizal continued to roll in the second round, rising to a 10-3 record behind league-leader Quezon Tangerines (10-1) in the nine-team field founded by former Senator and also MPBL chairman Manny Pacquiao and organized by Volleyball Masters of the Philippines.

Vanessa Yvonne Martin led Rizal’s sweep of Negros with 10 points off eight hits, an ace, and a black.

Janeth Tulang and Roxie Dela Cruz contributed eight points apiece while Joan Doguna and Johna Denise Dolorito added seven each to extend their winning streak after beating Marikina, Biñan, and San Juan.

Negros dropped to seventh place with a 4-6 record despite the 17-point effort of Gelah Marie Lopez.

Meanwhile, Aiko Urdas delivered 14 points to power the AM Caloocan Air Force past the Valenzuela Classy, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17, 25-19, and improved to a 5-5 record.

Caloocan is just a game behind No.4 Biñan Tatak Gel (6-5) as only the top four teams — with the first two seeds having a twice-to-beat advantage — will advance to the semis after a double round-robin eliminations.

Valenzuela remained in eighth place with a 2-8 record with Lilet Mabbayad and Javen Sabas leading the way with 12 points apiece.
